AxKit [Jul. 29th, 2005|08:03 pm]
[Current Mood |geeky]

AxKit[3] is this neat mod_perl[4] application for the web server Apache[5].

It allows you to have your XML[6] files transformed on demand by XML Stylesheets[7] depending on such variables as URL[8] and the web browser making the connection.

I had installed and played around with it briefly around half a year ago but now I'll be using it as part of a web browser frontend for a production database -- very exciting.

Inherited tables in PostgreSQL [Jul. 25th, 2005|09:11 pm]
[Current Mood |geeky]

I'm exploring the idea of inherited tables[1] in PostgreSQL[2].

If I have say two tables named table1 and table2 and the second table inherits from the first; the second table will contain all the columns of the first.

This would make the second table a subclass of the first, the first would be the second's parent, the second would derive from the first, etc.
